I enjoyed the article and I think you make good arguments. But I personally believe digital products are generally getter a lot better in terms of experience of use. And I'm perfectly fine with designers spending more time thinking strategically about the product rather than redrawing buttons after buttons. I do completely endorse the point of bastardisation of design though...
